Compress PDF to 250 KB help
Choose a PDF and try to get it under 250 KB. Some online forms ask for documents of 250 KB or less, and a phone scan of even one page can go over. Text stays selectable, and the page tells you if the result misses the limit.
How to use Compress PDF to 250 KB
- Choose the PDF your form needs under 250 KB.
- Keep the 250 KB target selected, or pick another quick size.
- Click Compress PDF to start working toward 250 KB. You can cancel at any time.
- See whether it reached 250 KB, check the first page, then download it.
Options explained
- Choose a target file size
- Starts at 250 KB. Pick a different quick size if your form allows more or less. Sizes use 1024 bytes per KB.
- Remove saved document details
- Optionally remove title and author properties; names printed on pages remain.
- Use stronger compression
- Works best with scanned PDFs and PDFs with images. Images may look blurry or lose detail. Check small print in the preview. Your target size is not guaranteed.
Limits and supported files
Unlocked PDF documents, including text and images. Signed files require confirmation to create a changed copy.
The requested size is an aim, not a guarantee. Large image files may stay above it even after compression. Stronger compression can make images noticeably softer; review the preview.
Tests covered 1,000 simple text pages and generated image PDFs up to 200 MB. Large files may use the full search time and remain above your target.
Tested in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit. Large-file checks used a 100 KB target.
Questions
Can every PDF fit within 250 KB?
No. A long scan or a PDF full of photos may stay above 250 KB. You get the smallest copy it found, and the page tells you if it missed.
Will my scan still be readable at 250 KB?
A one- or two-page scan usually is. Pictures may be resized or saved at lower quality, so zoom into the preview and check small print before you send it.
What can I do if my PDF stays above 250 KB?
Turn on “Use stronger compression” and try again. If it is still too big, remove pages the form does not need, or split the PDF into parts.
Is my PDF uploaded to compress it to 250 KB?
No. Your browser makes it smaller on this device, so nothing is uploaded.
