Your documents are yours. Here is how localipdf handles your files and the information collected when you visit this website.
Who runs this website

Your files stay on your device
PDFs, images and document passwords are processed in your browser. We do not upload them to a server for processing. We do not send document contents, filenames, passwords or signatures to our analytics services. Your original files are not changed.
What your browser remembers
Your browser saves your favourite tools, recently used tool names and colour theme on this device. If you choose Remember signature, it also saves that signature on this device until you choose Forget saved signature or clear this website’s stored data. Do not save a signature on a shared device.
When you refresh or close the page
Refreshing or closing the page clears your current work, including selected files, passwords and results you have not downloaded. Save your results first. Files you already downloaded remain on your device. Preferences and a signature you chose to remember remain saved until you remove them or clear this website’s stored data. Workflows you choose to remember also stay saved; they exclude documents and passwords.
Offline app files
Your browser saves the app, tool pages, fonts and PDF processing files for offline use. OCR engines, languages and number-checking files are downloaded separately when needed; use Save OCR for offline use under More options in the OCR tool to save them all before disconnecting. These caches do not contain your documents or passwords. Refresh clears unfinished work. You can remove downloaded app files through your browser’s site-data settings.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits, page views and loading speed, and to improve the website. Reports may include the page visited, referring website, country, browser and device type. Cloudflare says this service does not use cookies or browser storage to track visitors, and does not track people across websites. These statistics describe use of the website, not the contents of your documents.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you choose Allow analytics. It uses cookies to measure website visits and result downloads, and receives browser and device details, approximate location and the tool page visited. Result-download events include only the fixed tool name and its public page address. A browser download starting does not confirm that a file was saved to disk. Our custom events exclude URL query strings, fragments, filenames and document contents. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tag. Choose Analytics choices in the footer to reject or withdraw consent without losing your current work. Withdrawing stops future collection through our tag and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies; it does not undo data already sent. We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals by keeping Google Analytics off.
Website hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. When you visit, it receives normal connection information such as your IP address and browser information to deliver pages and help prevent abuse. This is separate from processing your PDFs, which happens on your device. Cloudflare handles hosting and analytics information under its own policies.
Cookies and saved settings
We remember your analytics choice on this device for up to 180 days, whether you allow or reject. Google Analytics cookies are configured to expire after 180 days without an automatic extension. Your browser may remove them sooner. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page. These cookie lifetimes are separate from how long service providers retain information on their servers. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. Your preferences and any signature or workflow you ask us to remember stay saved until you remove them or clear this website’s data.
Camera and downloads
Scan to PDF asks for camera access only when you choose to use the camera. Captured pages are processed on your device. You can turn off camera access in your browser settings. We do not receive copies of your downloaded results.
localipdf Chrome extension
The optional localipdf extension for Chrome reads a web page only when you click its icon, to list the documents and images on that page. It does not collect, store or send any information to us or anyone else. Files you download with it are saved by your browser to your Downloads folder. Files you open in a localipdf tool are passed to that tool inside your browser and are not uploaded. Links from the extension to localipdf.com are tagged so Google Analytics can count visits that came from the extension, if you allow Google Analytics.
Your choices
You can use every PDF tool without an account or consenting to Google Analytics. Depending on the law that applies, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or complain to your data protection authority. Email privacy@localipdf.com; include only what is needed to describe your request. We cannot retrieve documents processed only on your device. Your local files and saved settings can be removed in your browser.
Why information is used
Optional Google Analytics relies on your consent. Hosting, security and responding to support requests help us provide and protect the service. If you email us, your email address, message and any attachments are handled by our email provider so we can reply. Please do not send sensitive documents or passwords. We do not sell your documents or use their contents for advertising.
Service providers and international processing
Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and provides cookie-free visit statistics. Google provides optional website analytics and our support email service. These providers operate internationally, so website connection information and information you choose to email may be handled outside your country. Their privacy and processing terms explain their roles and safeguards. Consent to analytics is not a waiver of your legal rights.
