Compress image to 20 KB help
Choose a signature or passport photo and fit it within 20 KB. Many application forms ask for a signature or photo under 20 KB. The result is a JPG, and the page tells you if it could not reach the limit.
How to use Compress image to 20 KB
- Choose the photo or scanned signature you need under 20 KB.
- Keep 20 KB selected, or type the exact limit your form gives.
- Click Compress image to fit it within 20 KB.
- Check that the face or signature is still clear, then download the JPG.
Options explained
- Choose a target file size
- Starts at 20 KB. Pick a different quick size or type the exact limit in KB. Sizes use 1024 bytes per KB.
Limits and supported files
JPG, PNG and WebP images. The result is always a JPG. See-through areas in PNG or WebP become white.
A target size is an aim. A detailed photo may need fewer pixels to fit, and very small targets can make faces or text hard to read.
Photos above about 16.7 million pixels are reduced to that size first. Choose up to 100 images at a time.
Tested in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit.
Questions
Can a photo really fit within 20 KB?
Usually, yes. The tool lowers the quality first and then reduces the pixel size until the photo fits. A full-size phone photo may end up much smaller in pixels.
Will my signature still be readable at 20 KB?
A signature on a plain background usually stays clear. Crop away empty space first, and check the preview before you upload it.
What if the form asks for both a minimum and a maximum size?
Type the size you need in Target size in KB, such as 18. The tool aims to stay just under the number you enter.
Are my photo and signature uploaded to compress them?
No. They are compressed in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
